SSKB Strata Series: Sunshine Coast Fire Compliance

Smoke Alarm Legislation Changes

23rd, April 2026

In April, SSKB welcomed Sunshine Coast committee members and industry partners to The Duporth Tavern for an educational evening focused on fire compliance and upcoming legislative changes.

With updated smoke alarm requirements coming into effect from 1 January 2027, the session provided attendees with a clear and practical overview of what’s changing, what it means for bodies corporate, and the steps committees can take now to begin preparing their schemes.

The evening was a great success, with strong engagement and meaningful discussion between attendees and the panel. Participants had the opportunity to hear directly from industry experts, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into compliance obligations and best practice approaches.

The session was led by Brendan, Head of Innovation and Technology at SSKB, who acted as MC for the evening. He was joined by Brendan, SSKB Sunshine Coast General Manager, along with Ante, Relationship Manager QLD Smoke Alarms Australia, and Dylan, QLD Field Service Hero from Smoke Alarms Australia, who shared their expertise and on-the-ground experience.

SSKB extends its thanks to all attendees and presenters who contributed to the success of the evening. For those who were unable to attend, or who would like to revisit the key information shared, event resources are available to download here.
