SSKB Strata Series: Smoke Alarms Compliance Evening

The Gold Coast edition of the SSKB Strata Series brought together committee members and building managers for an informative evening focused on the upcoming smoke alarm legislation changes. Following the success of our Sunshine Coast event, this second instalment once again welcomed Smoke Alarms Australia, with industry experts Ante and Dylan returning to share their knowledge and practical guidance on what strata communities need to do before the new requirements take effect.

Hosted by SSKB Gold Coast General Manager Tom Bloomfield and joined by SSKB Community Manager Ann Katherine, the session was designed to help attendees understand the steps required to ensure their schemes are prepared and compliant ahead of the legislative deadline. The presentation explored key responsibilities, common areas of concern, and practical actions committees and building managers can begin taking now to avoid last-minute challenges.

The evening was marked by strong engagement from attendees, with plenty of questions and discussion throughout the presentation. The interest shown highlighted the importance of the topic and the commitment of those responsible for managing strata communities to ensuring their buildings remain up to date with changing legislative requirements.

The conversations continued well beyond the formal presentation, with many attendees taking the opportunity to speak directly with the presenters and SSKB team. As the 2027 deadline approaches, SSKB remains committed to providing educational opportunities that help committees and building managers stay informed, prepared and confident in meeting their obligations.
