The Brisbane edition of the SSKB Strata Series brought together committee members and building managers for what proved to be a fully booked and engaging evening dedicated to Queensland’s upcoming smoke alarm legislation changes. As the final in-person instalment of the smoke alarm compliance series, the night carried a sense of occasion — and those who braved the rain to attend were rewarded with an information-packed session that gave them the tools and confidence to act ahead of the 2027 deadline.
Hosted by SSKB’s Brendan McGrath as MC and joined by SSKB strata expert Peter Todd, the evening once again welcomed Smoke Alarms Australia’s Ante and Dylan, whose expertise has proven invaluable across the series. Together, the panel guided attendees through the legislative requirements, the responsibilities that fall to committees and building managers, and the practical steps strata communities can begin taking now to ensure their schemes are fully prepared and compliant before the deadline arrives.
