SSKB Strata Series: EV Charging in Strata

With interest in electric vehicles continuing to grow across Australia, understanding how to prepare strata schemes for EV charging is becoming increasingly important.

Recently, SSKB hosted clients in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast for two fully booked educational evenings focused on EV charging in strata, joined by Megan and Andrew from Greener Buildings. Across both events, approximately 50 committee members and building managers attended to gain a deeper understanding of the practical considerations involved in introducing EV charging to their schemes.

The sessions explored key topics including EV charging installation, electrical requirements and how to appropriately share the cost of electrical load. Attendees were provided with practical insights into the different considerations that can arise when planning EV charging infrastructure, helping them better understand what may be required for their individual scheme.

A key part of the evenings was the opportunity for attendees to ask scheme-specific questions directly to industry experts. This allowed committees and building managers to explore their own circumstances, consider potential challenges and gain a clearer understanding of the best-practice approach for their buildings.

As EV ownership continues to increase, now is the time for strata schemes to start preparing. Having the right knowledge before installation begins can help committees respond confidently to community questions and concerns, understand their electrical requirements and ensure any charging solution is appropriate for the needs of their particular scheme.

Both events were fully booked and received a fantastic turnout, highlighting the growing interest in EV charging and the importance of education in helping strata communities prepare for the changes ahead.
