SSKB Strata Series: Sunshine Coast

SSKB recently hosted another successful Sunshine Coast client event at the Duporth Tavern. Despite the wet weather outside, the room was filled with an impressive mix of building managers, committee members, and lot owners — a strong show of community engagement. The two-and-a-half-hour session provided a valuable opportunity for strata stakeholders to connect, learn, and share insights in a relaxed, social setting. It was a clear reflection of the appetite for practical, relevant strata information within our Sunshine Coast communities.

The evening’s topic centred around caretaking agreements, a subject of high interest for many strata communities. Leading the conversation was our MC for the night, Brendan McGrath, SSKB’s Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, alongside an experienced panel including Mark Mellick from Mellicks Strata Law, Brendan Edwards, SSKB’s Sunshine Coast General Manager, and Charli Melief, SSKB Community Manager. The panel delivered detailed insights into the legal, operational, and community impacts of caretaking agreements, breaking down complex topics into clear, actionable information. Attendees were actively involved, taking advantage of the opportunity to put their questions directly to the panel throughout the discussion.

Beyond the panel session, the event provided a valuable chance for one-on-one conversations with both Mark Mellick and the SSKB team, with many guests seeking further advice on matters specific to their own schemes. The strong turnout and positive feedback reinforced the importance of these client education sessions. It’s another example of SSKB’s commitment to ensuring our clients are well informed and supported when it comes to strata matters. This event is just one of several lined up for the Sunshine Coast this year, as we continue to deliver accessible, relevant education to the communities we work with.
