Office Closure & Business Continuity
To ensure the wellbeing of our team, the SSKB offices in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Tweed Heads will be closed on Thursday, 6th March, and Friday, 7th March. However, where possible, our staff will continue working remotely to support you.
We are also monitoring weather conditions for Wednesday, 5th March, and will update you should additional office closures be necessary.
- Any scheduled meetings will be moved to Microsoft Teams or postponed for the safety of our clients and staff.
- For urgent matters, we remain available via email and phone.
Current Weather Update
As of Tuesday, 4th March at 10:00 AM AEST / 11:00 AM AEDT:
- Cyclone Alfred is currently a Category 2 system, with sustained winds of 95 km/h and gusts up to 130 km/h.
- The cyclone is located 630 km east of Brisbane, moving east-southeast at 13 km/h.
- It is expected to turn west today, with landfall projected for late Thursday or early Friday at Category 2 strength.
- Authorities have issued a watch zone from Sandy Cape to Grafton, covering Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Byron Bay.
Key Warnings:
- Abnormally high tides and coastal flooding from Sandy Cape to Yamba.
- Damaging surf and beach erosion along open beaches.
- Gale-force winds (up to 120 km/h) developing Wednesday from Tewantin to Grafton, extending north to Sandy Cape late Wednesday/early Thursday.
- Heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding from Wednesday, with intense rainfall posing a life-threatening flood risk late Thursday/early Friday.
