With Cyclone Alfred expected to make landfall on Thursday evening, it is crucial for all residents to receive timely emergency updates.

⚠ Emergency Alert text messages are sent to everyone in affected areas during disasters. These alerts provide potentially life-saving information, including evacuation notices and safety instructions.

What You Need to Do:

✅ Save the Emergency Alert number (+61 444 444 444) as a contact.

✅ Mark it as a favourite so it doesn’t get missed.

✅ Check your settings to ensure the number isn’t blocked.

Cyclone Forecast and Safety Preparations

Office Closures and Business Continuity

To ensure the wellbeing of our team, SSKB offices in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Tweed Heads will be closed on Thursday, 6th March, and Friday, 7th March. However, where possible, our staff will be working remotely to continue supporting you.

Any scheduled meetings will be moved to Microsoft Teams or postponed for the safety of our clients and staff. We remain available via email and phone for urgent matters.

Current Weather Update

🔺 Current Status: Cyclone Alfred remains a Category 2 system with sustained winds of 95 km/h and gusts up to 130 km/h.

🔺 Location: 345 km east of Brisbane, 315 km east of the Gold Coast.

🔺 Movement: Tracking west at 16 km/h, expected to cross the coast early Friday.

🔺 Forecast Landfall: Between Maroochydore and Coolangatta.

Key Warnings:

🔺 Damaging Winds – Gusts up to 120 km/h expected from late Wednesday across southeast Queensland and northeast NSW.

🔺 Destructive Gusts – Up to 155 km/h possible near and south of the cyclone’s track from Thursday afternoon.

🔺 Storm Tide Risk – Dangerous coastal inundation possible, especially near high tide early Friday.

🔺 Heavy Rainfall & Flooding – Life-threatening flash flooding possible late Thursday into Friday.

🔺 Beach Erosion & Damaging Surf – Significant impact likely on exposed beaches.
