This week we had our last Resilience in ISO webinar event with Greg Layton. Melbourne have now unfortunately been hit with an extension on the lockdown. The mental health and wellbeing of our clients and staff in Melbourne is a top priority. We now have 6 recorded sessions that our clients can refer to at any time during the upcoming weeks indoors and also in their future life.
Assisting the Owners Corporations to navigate the responsibilities to keep residents safe, financial stress from a lot of owners and keeping common areas locked down are just some of the work our Owners Corporation Managers are tackling, while being locked down themselves. We have thousands of clients in Melbourne who will be experiencing the restrictions placed on Melbourne from their apartments and we want to help where we can.
In our earlier sessions we worked through routines, rituals, mindfulness and more! The second half of our series focused on visions and focusing on coming out of lockdown on top.
This week was all about the 5 sources of life.
Laughter – Greg talked about how many conversations people in Melbourne and throughout the world are having are starting with how tough the current environment is. It is important to keep good spirits, share jokes, continue friendly banter and just have a laugh with your friends and family. Laughter truly is the best medicine.
Music – Music can instantly lift your mood! Putting in your earphones and going for a stroll around your neighborhood can play a big part in mindfulness.
Random Acts of Kindness – Our Victorian General Manager, Holly Welsh, talked about how she sent some of her friends who are also in isolation some gifts to lift their spirits and explained that sending the gifts made her feel so happy. The joy of gift giving works both ways!
Learning – Many people want to learn new talents, upskill on their current qualifications or learn a completely new industry but often don’t have the time. Looking on the positive side of the current restrictions, we have been gifted with the time to action these goals.
Solitude – Many of our clients are living in apartments with friends, family and loved ones. While it is great to spend so much time together, it is also important that you get ‘me time’ and solitude. Greg give the example that him and his wife play tag team. While he is making dinner with the kids or helping them with homework his wife can have me time and vice versa.
And of course, more Yoda quotes shared by Greg:
Thank you to everyone who tuned in to our sessions and watched our recorded sessions over the last 6 weeks. Don’t forgot you can re-watch our sessions at any time on the SSKB YouTube channel. We are in all this together – don’t forget to read out to your Community Manager if you need assistance with the current restrictions or just need some support!
