In addition to your Community Manager and Assistant Community Manager, SSKB lot owners have access to our expert Client Financials team.
Let’s meet Maureen, Client Financials Team Leader.
Tell us about your typical day
There is no typical day! Our team works with invoice approvers and body corporate/owners corporation treasurers to ensure each community’s financials are accurate and up to date.
One of our major roles is to check and double check all of the accounts at year end.
What are some of the challenging things your team deals with?
That can vary.
One of the unique things about being an accountant in the world of strata is dealing with two ‘end of year’ deadlines.
There is your standard financial year, which is July to June, but each strata community has their own end of year when the AGM happens, so all the financials have to be ready for the tax man at the end of the financial year and for all the lot owners at the AGM.
We also work very closely with a number of committee treasurers. They contact their community manager and ask to liaise directly with us and it is a great way to make sure everything runs smoothly.
If you could let SSKB lot owners know about one thing, what would it be?
Take an interest in, and stay on top of, your community financials. Also, be aware of the types of invoices and code them correctly in the Hub, so we know whether the invoice is, for example, routine gardening services or major maintenance sinking fund expenditures.
What do you enjoy most about working at SSKB?
There are lots of great people here at SSKB and we’ve got to know some of our committee members as well, so we always enjoy talking to them.
What is your favourite out-of-work activity or hobby?
I enjoy camping, kayaking, bush walking and cycling.
